SALÓN FLAMENCO

Love Flamenco? This radical performance event undermines expectations and ignores the rules. Live performances, film screenings, workshops and panel talks with local and international artists.

Experimental, raw and adventurous, Salón Flamenco explores gender, politics, history, movement and sound and de-mystifies this very traditional art form.
The artists challenge the very boundaries and expectations of traditional flamenco and what it means to be Australian, and their very personal connection to flamenco, as a very unique form of expression.
Connecting with the pulse of what’s piping-hot in Europe, the artists share a philosophy of practice, to open flamenco to wider arts audiences, move away from an exotic ethnicity to its contemporary relevance today.
Our 2023 artists include Tomás Arroquero, Tomas Dietz, Marduk Gault, Maree Laffan, Paco Lara, Pepa Molina, Lisa Maris McDonell, Paloma Negra, Annalouise Paul, Alessandra Pecci and more.
